This week representatives from the "Take Care!! Safe Sex Project"
presented Thais4Life with a Certificate of Appreciation to say thank you
for their recent help with funding their work.

November 11 is the date for this month's Thais4Life Quiz Night
at Oscars in Boyz Town.

The quiz consists of six rounds, one of which is a picture round and
costs 100 baht per person to enter.

After the quiz complimentary snacks are served.
Why not come along for a good night and support a worthwhile charity.

2008 Teddy Bear and Rice Appeal

This is just a few of the donations received at Oscars so far and
special thanks must go to John.

Following the success of the 2007 Teddy Bear appeal when over 500 Teddy Bears were generously given and donated to local Orphanages we once again launch this Appeal, now named the 2008 Teddy Bear and Rice Appeal.
Rice, a staple part of the diet here, has doubled in price over the last few months causing hardship to many and it seems appropriate to add this.

Donations of Bears ( small and medium size please ) , bags of Rice and cash will be welcomed at the participating venues of Oscars Bar and Panorama Pub on Boyz Town, Thais4Life Bookshop on Soi Yensabai Pattaya and once again at Balcony Pub and Restaurant, Silom Soi 4, Bangkok . If giving cash for Rice please give your name or a pseudonym and an official receipt will be given and Thais4Life will account for and publish the name and the donation on their web site.

The appeal will finish on Thursday December 18th and culminate in a Teddy Bears Picnic on the afternoon of that day when the Bears will ' meet the press ' before being distributed to there new homes in time for Christmas. In attendance will be ' Oscar ' the Thais4Life Teddy Bear, regularly featured on the Weekly report, who has been cruising round the World most of this year courtesy of our friend Robin and will hopefully become the most travelled Bear having completed over 100,000 Nautical Miles. Oscar, returning to Pattaya in December, together with a log of his travels will be auctioned at a Charity Event, date to be announced.

Also at this event a Prize of a Litre Of Black Label donated by Oscars Bar will be given to the donated Bear which has travelled the most to get here. Last year the winning Bear travelled from The Falkland Islands and was sponsored by Stuart of Balcony Bangkok.

A Thanksgiving Feast (not necessarily like the one at White Night)

The White Night Restaurant in Soi VC would like to inform you that they we will be having a special Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday 27th November at 7.30 for 8 pm.

With this being the first of many special nights, Mike and the team will be "pulling out all the stops" to make this dinner really special for you.

Here are the details, which may be subject to variation.

From 7.30pm. Complimentary welcome drinks.

8.0pm. Everyone who books will be sat at the long "Family" tables inside in the air conditioned dining room or out on the Soi side terrace. The Buffet will be served in terrines and on platters so that you can help yourself to whatever you like without having to leave the table, making the whole evening very easy and sociable.

The menu is planned as;

Roast Pumpkin Soup, Asparagus Soup.
Waldorf Salad. Subject tot the availability of fresh Waldorfs!
Roast Turkey with traditional dressing of Sage and Onion stuffing, Cranberry Sauce and Rich Gravy.
A selection of seasonal vegetables including, Corn, Sweet Potato, Roast Potatoes, Mashed Potato, Peas, Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower Asparagus and more.
A sweet selection to include; Apple Pie, Fruit & Nut Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Sweet Potato Pie, Chocolate Mousse, Rice Pudding, Fresh Fruit Salad, Cream and Custard.
And finally a small digestive drink and then tea or coffee, if you still have room.

Halloween Report and Pictures

The Ghosties and the Ghoulies were down Soi VC on Friday night. Mikes Bar La Cage held a Devilish Party to celebrate Halloween.

All the Boys entered into the spirit of things and really enjoyed dressing up. All House Spirits were on BOGOF (buy one, get one free) offer all night and there were also special shots and cocktails as well as a free buffet.

Traditional games such as Apple Bobbing, Balloon Stomping and Raw Egg Conkers were played and all in all it was a very silly night!

Wednesday 5th . Guy Fawkes Night. Celebrate the Gun Powder Plot
on this very English of Nights. Sadly no Bonfire or Fireworks but we
will have a Guy! Olde English Bangers and Mash as a special bar
snack, only 95 Baht!! Special promotions on Merry Down English
Cider, Gordon’s Gin and much more yet to be dreamt up!

Saturday 8th. Concert. The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra’s new
season of concerts kicks off with a program that includes Sibelius:
Finlandia and Beethoven: 7th Symphony. Ticket price just 300 Baht.
Share of mini bus about 420 Baht. We depart from the bar at 12.30
and get back around 10 pm. Limited to a maximum of 12 people.

Wednesday 12th. Loi Krathong.
The La Cage Boys will be very busy making Krathong and a prize
will be awarded for the best one before they go on sale at 9 pm.
We will be closing the bar at 11 pm and Baht Busses will be
provided to transfer you to Dontang beach, Jomtien.
At the orange chair plot No. 24. Nan & Jo will provide a Thai buffet
and Bar. Float your Kratong, light your Korm Fai and party all night
on the beach.

Thursday 27th. American Thanksgiving. All things American as we
celebrate Thanksgiving in conjunction with The White Night.

Halloween on Silom Soi 4

Silom Soi 4 is known as "the place" to celebrate Halloween in Bangkok and this
year the multitude were not disappointed as they crowded into all the venues.

The Soi was suitably decorated with bats, cats, spider’s webs, balloons,
severed heads, pumpkins and a whole lot more.

The party featured a scary costume contest sponsored by Southern Comfort; an appropriately
chilling cabaret performance by The Dream Girls and just at the right time a show of thunder and lightning.

Silom Soi 4 are pleased to announce the
Silom Soi 4 Festival 2008
will take place during the week 25 ~ 30 November.

Every night there will be a special party in The Soi featuring many of the themes that
are so well loved by our friends and customers.

As we all know, the Bangkok Pride committee cancelled this year’s Pride Festival but ever since the original
Bangkok Gay Festival started in Soi 4 back in 1999 we know how much our
friends and visitors love the parties that are held.

We've all seen those funny Thai signs!
Well this one is from Wales . . .

E-mail error ends up on road sign

The English is clear enough to lorry drivers - but the Welsh reads
"I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated."

When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply
was what they needed.

Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh:
"I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated".

So that was what went up under the English version which barred lorries from a road near a supermarket.
